I love this dog food! It really works and my dog hasn’t had a diarrhea episode since switching to it. She has a sensitive stomach and has been fine on this product for a few years now.

  2. (verified owner)

Good and affordable. Salmon is the novel protein and works for both my allergic and intolerant dogs 🙂

  3. (verified owner)

This is a larger bag at a better price than I can get locally – and it really works for my boxer who has a very sensitive system. With any other food she deals with itchy skin, bloody ears, and irregular bowels – but this food has been a great natural solution for her without steroids!! I would highly recommend it as a solution to possibly try before using medications that so greatly impact their digestive systems.

  4. (verified owner)

EXPIRED beware of buying, I got a bag that expired 11 months ago! My dog didn’t want to eat it and I didn’t know why and I read that dogs smell when something is old and I checked the expiration date and it expired almost a year ago. Be careful!!

  5. (verified owner)

My dogs been eating this for the past two years and I can say that this didn’t give them the gas like blue buffalo did! They’ve had so many different expensive food in the past and when I tried to buy a cheaper one it helped them lost weight and have shinny coats. And they actually eat it. Recently I tried a different food and they started itching so I will have to buy this again.

  6. (verified owner)

We adopted 3 rescue dogs in November who had parasites and after treatment, they still had uncontrollable poops. After trying 5 or 6 different (and sometimes expensive) foods, I found this to be the only food they can tolerate. Finally, we found the holy grail dog food that produced solid poo!!!!! I also love that this arrives at my door at a dollar cheaper than my local pet supply store. Thanks, Purina.6 month update: Still going strong with this awesome dog food. The dogs have grown into healthy adults with shiny hair and no tummy troubles!

  7. (verified owner)

My dog seems to really like it ! Fish is the first ingredient & I thinkthat’s a big factor. My dog isn’t really a ” sensitive system” dog…more like a dog that will eat anything. But he didn’t like dog foodwith turkey as the number one ingredient. Not a picky eater by anymeans he systematically removed those turkey bits from the dogfood & left them on the floor !

  8. (verified owner)

Great dog food for any dog who has a sensitive stomach. Our 2 year old lab mix doesn’t tolerate any other dry dog food other than this one. Our vet recommended it because compared to a lot of other “sensitive stomach” foods, it’s the most reasonably priced.

  9. (verified owner)

This product did NOT work at ALL for our super sensitive skinned dog. While grain free is more expensive, I can attest truthfully that grain free for dogs who are constantly plagued with hot spots if far superior and worth the money.

  10. (verified owner)

This is really great dog food. My dog does really well on this food. His fur is starting to come back and he really loves the food too.

  11. (verified owner)

Our 4 dogs, 2 small dogs and two medium size dogs, love it. I bought it because it is for sensitive stomachs & the 2 larger dogs have had some stomach troubles, like throwing up their food. So far they are still eating from this second bag and have thrown up only twice.

  12. (verified owner)

My vet recommended I switch to this brand for my boxer. He has sensitive skin and sensitive stomach, therefore he recommended I switch. I have been feeding him this for at least 6 months and I have definitely seen a difference! His coat is amazing, he went from pooping 2-3 times a day to only once a day, he has more energy after eating. I think this food was a great swap for my boxer, he doesn’t seem to mind!

  13. (verified owner)

May not be anything wrong with the product, but my dog gets sick every time she eats it. I thought it would be good because she has a sensitive stomach.

  14. (verified owner)

This dog food is acceptable to my two dogs (white Sheppard mix 70lbs and brown retriever mix 65lbs). They both would get hot spots with other foods, this contains no chicken (which is usually fed corn, a feed that dogs can be allergic to) so we suspect that is why hot spots are gone! Cheaper for us to buy on Amazon than out local Petco and no trip to town.

  15. (verified owner)

Our golden had stomach issues, specifically would throw up liquid bile during digestion. My husband changed him to this food, and he has had no issues sine then. We wouldn’t consider changing his diet.

  16. (verified owner)

I had been buying this exact food from a Amazon for over a year. When we received the most recent bag, the food looked slightly larger and smaller a little stronger. We thought there had been a slight recipe change. We have it to our dog and are extremely upset because she’s been having diarrhea ever since. $150+ spent at the vet so far. Trust your instinct if you know this food! We went I Target and bought the same food and did a side by side comparison (in the photo, the food from Amazon is the much larger kibble on the left). It’s not even close. I don’t know if it’s counterfeit or a bad batch or what, but beware if you don’t want your dog to suffer! I won’t be buying this from Amazon anymore.

  17. (verified owner)

This is a great food, very good ingredients for my baby! This food is made with the best ingredients, no allergens, and the small kibble is a big bonus! Also, the price on this site is extremely competitive. I’ve shopped around for many different types of foods (some dogs are more difficult to pin down – they are just sensitive to everything!) in just about every possible place you can think of, and this is a great price for a reasonably good food, but for a more specialized food, it’s a great price.

  18. (verified owner)

We have switched to this brand for my boxer with sensitive skin and stomach issues. It has been a great switch for him and the price it great, too.

  19. (verified owner)

My GSD pup was sick on and off for months with soft, voluminous stools. He didn’t have parasites and was otherwise healthy and rambunctious, if a little thin. I had him on a number of increasingly expensive kibbles and canned foods, thinking that perhaps he was wheat, corn, or soy intolerant. I was also worried that he may have EPI or something worse. Then I noticed that he would have a paradoxical reaction when fed the traditional stomach-soothing meal of boiled chicken, canned pumpkin, and white rice – his loose stool wouldn’t improve and he’d instead suffer severe diarrhea. I attempted an elimination diet and discovered that he can tolerate lamb, beef, and fish but becomes very ill when fed chicken as his main protein. It was great to discover the source of the problem but then I was presented with a new problem – chicken is in almost every dry dog food and treat. The limited ingredient diets that don’t include chicken are somewhat cost prohibitive as my dog will weigh around 100 lbs when he is finished growing. Then I found Purina One: Sensitive Systems. This is an affordable, good quality dry food from a trusted manufacturer, and one of the few sensitive stomach/skin diets that does not contain any chicken. After being on this diet for two weeks, he has put on at least 4 pounds, and has normal, consistently well-formed stools for the first time. I hope this review helps someone.

  20. (verified owner)

Great dog food and seems to be more digestible or at least easier on my dog’s stomach. Has helped with the loose stools especially when I add a handful of uncooked oatmeal and let stand in hot water for a couple of minutes. Better price than Incan fine locally. Will reorder

Prompt delivery. Our dog came to us with a sensitive gut. We used Life’s Abundance and Taste of the Wild but our dog kept having diarrhea. He finally stopped diarrhea when we switched him to a prescription diet but it was so expensive we asked our vet for a cheaper alternative and Purina One Sensitive was recommended to us. Since we switched our dog to this diet 2.5 years ago, he’s almost never had diarrhea again.

  22. (verified owner)

I was feeding my poor baby this cheap dog food that was $12 for a 25Lb bag and she had major diharrea for two months, and she was shedding like CRAZY! My dog is a short hair that usually has very minimal shedding. I recently switched to Purina One sensitive systems and she now her stool is nice and firm. I’ve noticed she poo’s the second we go outside, AND she’s not shedding anymore which I’m VERY happy about. She’s also seems to be happier and calmer which is a plus.

  23. (verified owner)

We tried this food for our dog and after we gave him a few scoops we noticed it was full of little WORMS and MOLD! Yuck!!! I threw it all away. My dog better not get sick!!!

  24. (verified owner)

My 7 year old Golden Retriever had started getting a lot of dry patches on his back and sores on his underbelly and hind quarters. I was feeding him Purina One Chicken and Rice at the time. I tried special shampoos, allergy pills and it wasn’t doing anything. A Vet Tech I knew said that as dogs age they can develop allergies to the protein in their food, particularly chicken and some grains. She recommended before going to the expense of Allergy Testing to try a different diet that did not have the chicken. So I got this Purina ONE Smart Blend Sensitive System with the Salmon instead of Chicken and it worked great! My dog has no more sores, and no more dry patches anywhere. And his coat seems to be shinier than before.

Our dogs love this food. Our Akita has skin/food allergies and this food really helps her skin. This food also has Omega 3 fatty acids that help the skin and fur. I am a Veterinary Technician and I highly recommend this food.

  26. (verified owner)

Our dog had bad digestive issues. He was vomiting often and never had solid stool. After starting this food the vomiting has stopped and his b.m. are normal 99% of the time. He has also lost some weight/bloat and looks great. My smaller dog has allergies and was always scratching/biting herself. After starting this food that behavior is almost all gone and she has lost the extra 5 lbs the vet has been bothered by.I hope to never have to find a new food because we love this stuff.

  27. (verified owner)

I just got this bag of dog food and it appears to have little hairs sticking out of some of the pieces, not a ton of hair but definitely noticeable. The issue I have with this is the only protein/meat ingredients listed are salmon and chicken by product meal, neither of which should have hair in it😠. I gave it two stars because my dog enjoys the taste and I will probably feed out the bag because I don’t want to waste it and figure wolves probably eat lots of hair in the wild but I don’t think I will buy it again.

  28. (verified owner)

We received a sample of this in the mail, so decided to try it for our 11 year old Corgi who has stomach issues. She immediately ate the food as if it was made of cheese, which she loves! We have seen no vomiting or diarrhea, and she is always excited at mealtime to eat it all. Her energy level over the past two weeks has improved, and she is smiling much more, eager to greet everyone, and playing with her younger “sister”, even running around the yard like she used to. We had been using a prescription food from the vet, which was twice as expensive. I am very, very pleased with the results that came from switching to this food.

  29. (verified owner)

I have an almost 4 month old puppy who has had horrible diarrhea since I got her at 8 weeks old. Tried different foods and nothing worked, especially anything with chicken. Went to the vet a few times and tried 2 different medicines, nothing was working. Today is day 3 on this food and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I wish I would have gotten this food right away. Day 3 and she has normal stools, they are still kind of soft but they are at least normal now. I was having to clean my dogs room every morning and since I switched her food there hasnt been one accident. VERY HAPPY with this purchase and will continue to buy to this food. I will give it a 5 star when her stools are 100% back to normal.

My 7 yr old standard poodle was put on this when he was a pup because he had stomach issues. He loves it and on occasions when he wants variety I mix some can food with it. However his stomach problems are way better and his excretions are solid and regular

  31. (verified owner)

This food is very good and my dog does very well on it. However, Amazon is having serious problems with counterfeit pet food. 2 out of 3 bags were legit Purina one salmon. The 3rd one was larger pieces in exact same packaging with different lot code and expiration date. All 3 bags were purchased at the same time from Amazon. I like the convince and low price Amazon offers however I’m forever worried that it is not a genuine brand of food I purchased. It has happend with other brands as well. And I don’t want to gamble my pets health just because Amazon saves me over 30$ instead of purchasing any per food locally.

  32. (verified owner)

Went from IAMS large puppy food to this for my pup. I’d like to have him on puppy food but he loves to eat anything he sees and most things don’t agree with his stomach (including IAMS). He would get a lot of gas with his last food, although his stool is still quite loose he doesn’t get gas nearly as bad as before.

  33. (verified owner)

My dog has skin allergies. His poor ears used to be so swollen and red and he wouldn’t let you touch them. The vet said that they have had good luck with this type of thing by simply restricting chicken from their diet. The thing is – almost EVERY dog food and dog treat has chicken/poultry something as one of the main ingredients. This was the recommendation and my Dually no longer gets red or needs meds.Side note: It is a bit stinky though. We keep it in a large trash can in the garage and there is always a faint fishy smell in there.

Gave it to my little rescue dog first time today. She weighs maybe 9-10 pounds and has not one tooth. It took over five minutes to soften up just a little, but she ate it like that and it seemed to go down just fine. (She’s not starving, I’ve had her over two months now and have feed her various soft/wet dog food and homemade food with chicken or turkey mixed with rice and veges, she’s pretty healthy now and well-fed.) Next time I’ll soften it in water maybe ten minutes or so. I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing that it takes so long to soften up so for now I’m only giving it 4 stars. If she does well on it after a time I’ll increase to five stars. I do appreciate all the healthy ingredients in this food and the big bag at the low price. If you have a dog with teeth I’m sure this would be a great dog food at a great price.

Purina One sensitive is the only food I have found that my 14 yr old Gordon Setter can eat. Her coat is beautiful and her tummy is happy. The variety is difficult to find, unless I drive across town. Amazon’s price is the same as the store. My one problem is when it is shipped through the post office. My house sets 45 feet from the curb, and someone is always home, not a problem for UPS, or Amazon delivery folks, but the letter carrier can’t seem to make the effort. Not even to leave the “sorry we missed you” tag. I actually had a good letter carrier for a few years, and I always got my dog food, either delivered by Amazon or the USPS but Ray the letter carrier no longer comes by. The Amazon customer service person, was very nice, however the only choice was to hope the post office could deliver my bag of dog food or Amazon send a new bag, both solutions would have ended up bringing my dog food a day after I run out (its also a holiday weekend). I know I should have ordered sooner, so I’m stuck with the drive across town. I wish Amazon had an option for choosing if you do not want the post office to deliver. I will miss the convenience of Amazon delivering my dog’s food. I also miss Ray the letter carrier.

My 8 year old hound mix dog has had a sensitive stomach her whole life. We have never been able to pinpoint particular but vet said maybe she is just sensitive. This comes delivered right to more door, no more lugging home from grocery. My dog still throws up about 1x a week but the is a good improvement. Some times I think its from eating squirrel poop or leftover food my teenagers leave out. My vet even said it is decent dog food.

  37. (verified owner)

Our labrador retriever has struggled with ear infections and allergic reactions. Our vet suggested we change his diet, and this has been the perfect answer. He hasn’t had any infections or reactions since switching to this food. It provides a good source of protein. It’s a bit spendy, but Amazon’s price is as good as you’ll find from Walmart.

  38. (verified owner)

Our pup was rubbing her nose on the ground a lot, getting eye boogies, and sneezing. She also would eat a few kibbles and walk away. Vet recommended Purina and we thought a sensitive type would help. We switched to this food and she now eats a bowl at a time. It has helped tremendously with her sneezing and rubbing her nose on the ground. She still gets eye boogies but the vet believes it is a different kind of allergy. She loves the taste and is maintaining weight.

  39. (verified owner)

My dog has a sensitive stomach so I thought I’d give this a try given the price per pound. Having said that, after 2 months the price has gone up over $1 per bag. May be insignificant to some, but I don’t think it’s cool. But I will buy it because my dog is doing well on it.

  40. (verified owner)

My dog has an awful skin allergy to chicken and people of corn. His skin gets itchy and bloody and he has the most colorful smelling gas. We give him his food and we have no issues if the wrong kind of a good spot you can tell in a day.

  41. (verified owner)

This stuff is disgusting, I tried adding milk and plenty of sugar but it didn’t make any difference and it didn’t seem to help my stomach at all. I decided to do some research and did you know this stuff has peanut hulls in it? Like ground up peanut shells, also the left overs from dead animal bones at chicken and pig farms and such. They just grind it all up mix it together and boil it.I had to feed the whole bag to my dogs, luckily they seemed to enjoy it.

  42. (verified owner)

My dog, a pit mix, has very sensitive skin and stomach issues. She has been on and eaten every food you could possibly think of! We tried this food on a whim, and found that it is the only food that does not cause a flare up or issue with her stomach and skin. She is healthy, happy and her coat is great. She typically gets bored of food and won’t eat it, but since she has been on this food, she has not had any issues! She is eating all of her food, and licking her bowl clean. Highly recommend.

  43. (verified owner)

My lab was having so many skin/coat issues and after 5 trips to the 2 different vets, countless antibiotics, shampoos, lotions, and allergy meds, someone told me about this dog food. In two months, his coat was free of bald spots that he bit/scratched and he no longer looked like he had mange. That was a year ago and we still have not had one issue since. I highly recommend this dog food. I was fixing to give up since I had him on top of the line “Taste of Wilderness” feed since I got him from the breeders. I really didn’t think it was his food. Boy was I wrong.

  44. (verified owner)

I rescued an abused German Shepherd which can with tons of problems including stomach and skin sensitivity. He was used to puke at least once a day, thanks to this food he’s gaining weight, skin look la very good, and his stomach isn’t screwed up anymore.

  45. (verified owner)

My Weimaraner didn’t like this as much as the Kirkland brand – even tho we worked it in slowly to transition him from one food to the other. By the time he was totally on this food his poop was soft and the same light color as the food. We switched back. Maybe this is the perfect food for other dogs, but not mine.

  46. (verified owner)

Should’ve taken the review about it being an off product more seriously…just thought since there was so many more recent reviews that were 5stars we’d be ok. I bought this and the kibble was smaller and more pointed, didn’t think much of it. My dog had been on this for about 2 days and just last night was acting weird. He needed to puke but wouldn’t. We assumed something was slightly lodged in his throat. Felt like we should help him puke(hydrogen peroxide aided)..when he did puke we found that his stomach contents only contained this food. He’s better today with this food out of his stomach. This food had an ill effect on my dog and now will be on a boiled chicken/white rice diet until his stomach feels better. Bought another bag from another store that we will be using. He’s not ever had this happened in the almost 2 years we’ve had him. He gets bored of food easily, and so we’ve had more food changes than we’d like and this is the only food that has done this to him….

  47. (verified owner)

I have purchased this product previously and my dogs seemed to like the product. I needed to reorder the product, but it was unavailable so I purchased a competitor’s product for a sensitive stomach. Now, my dogs won’t eat this product and I was forced to repurchase the competitor’s more expensive food. I do believe this is a good product. My cocker spaniel that has the digestive problems did well until he & my other dog decided they preferred the other dog food. This kibble is smaller than the other product & I believe my dogs prefer the larger kibble.

I recently adopted a 3 year old Labrador/Border Collie mix and as he’s quite large ordered a 47 pound bag of Purina Pro with chicken shreds. He tolerated it for a couple of days and then started having severe diarrhea and scratching like mad. Problem: chicken allergy.Donated the Purina Pro to a neighbor (fifty bucks down the drain) and bought a bag of this. Was a bit concerned at the ‘chicken by-products’ listed in the ingredients but thought as the main protein was salmon he might still be able to tolerate it. So far, so good. The diarrhea has stopped and so has the scratching. May look for an alternative once he finishes the bag as I’m still concerned at the chicken by-products in this formula and will probably look for something without it.

We have a German Shepherd with a sensitive stomach and skin. I was trying to save money and get a cheaper version of dog food with Salmon and some other decent ingredients. Well, I did get a cheaper version but it was a FAIL for my dog. He bit and licked and scratched himself crazy! I couldn’t stand to see him that way and right before store closing, ran to grab my ol’ reliable Purina Pro Plan Focus with Salmon for sensitive everything. Within 2 days, he’s back to his old self. Lesson learned.

My 12-year-old dog has been on high-cost grain-free food for most of his life. He has very bad allergies, which is why I used grain-free food. As you probably know though, there have been studies on grain-free which suggest that they are not healthy, so I decided to switch. I asked my vet for some recommendations, and he suggested three brands of food. First I went with a more expensive one, but his allergies got worse, which suggests to me that he is allergic to the protein that was in that food (chicken). I already knew he was allergic to lamb, so I decided to try Purina with Salmon since he has done will with Salmon in the past. The results have been outstanding. He is playing more and itching less. His allergies are not completely gone, but this is no surprise, he just has a lot of allergies. Even so, they are much better on this food than on many of the other “premium” brands I have tried over the years.I wish I had discoevred this years ago. I am saving $20-$30 per bag.
